Archives Hub

February 28th, 2009 Posted in 123 Triad

The Archives Hub provides a single point of access to 23,324 descriptions of archives held in 174 UK repositories. At present these are primarily at collection-level, although complete catalogue descriptions are provided where they are available. The Archives Hub forms one part of the UK’s National Archives Network, alongside related networking projects.

An important aspect of the work of the Archives Hub is to provide training and advice on issues relating to electronic cataloguing of archives. The ‘For Archivists’ section of the website contains a wealth of information about using XML and EAD for archive catalogues, as well as details of forthcoming training courses in areas of interest to those responsible for archives.
